Compositing Masterclass

In the third year of my course we were given a choice to pick an assignment from a company. Of course, I wanted to do the compositing masterclass, working on a shot with plates provided by Double Negative. This was fantastic as it was my first more professionally made shot and it thought me a lot. We could pick from 3 shots and I choose this one because I wanted to focus on interactive lighting.
The part I enjoyed the most was adding the smallest reflection details on the surface of the gadgets you can see on the table to make the integration seamless.
Additionally I created some motion graphic elements to be played on the back screens. I felt they added to the sci-fi feel of the shot. I also did it because I wanted to practice matte extraction. Luckily I could pull a matte mainly by using the screen’s luminance and then combining additional rotoscope for some tiny hairs.
